The Scunthorpe production site commenced operations in 1939 with two blast furnaces, and two additional ones were added in 1954. This facility is dedicated to manufacturing medium sections and wire rods for the construction industry. In 2019, British Steel faced financial difficulties and subsequently underwent an acquisition by Jingye. Since acquiring British Steel, Jingye has made significant investments, totaling USD 400 million, in various capital projects over the first three years of ownership.
