Simberi gold mine
Report summary
Simberi is located within the Tabar group of Islands, New Ireland Province,PNG, 900 kilometres from the capital, Port Moresby. Ore at Simberi is sourced from seven open pits: Sorowar, Samat North, Samat South, Samat East, Pigput, Pigibo, and Botlu South. Simberi is operated as a fly-in fly-out operation. Access to the property is by air with regular flights from a 1400m airstrip (located 3km from the process plant) to Port Moresby, Kavieng and Rabaul. Wood Mackenzie’s asset reports are built from the bottom up, incorporating a number of granular data metrics to ultimately produce our industry standard cash operating costs. This report contains a detailed asset note giving you a holistic view of the asset, including an operational overview through to a timeline of events from inception to now. This qualitative analysis is supplemented by the associated Excel download which enables interrogation of a whole series of cost and production metrics over the life of the asset.
