Slatina aluminium smelter
Report summary
Slatina was commissioned with Pechiney prebake technology in 1965. It remains Romania's only smelter with a nameplate capacity of 288ktpa. The smelter received various injections of capital through the years, including a US$120M capital investment between 1995 and 2002. In 2005, Alro Slatina increased its vertical integration by acquiring 67.87% stake in the Alum Tulcea refinery, raising its share to 92.75%
