Asset Report
Sossego copper mine
Report summary
By the end of 2017 Sossego was operating three conventional open pits (Sossego, Sequerinho and Pista) and a 41kt/d flotation mill with single SAG feeding two ball mills. Based on current (Dec 2017) reserves, Vale estimates a mine life until 2027 but with stockpiles this could be extended one or two more years. However due to the strategic location of Sossego, close to Cristalino (45 km), the 118 mine deposit (less than 20km) and Visconde (15km), Vale believes that eventually sulphide ore from those mines will be treated in the Sossego mill.
