Report summary
S.A. Land operated as an underground mining operation from 1938-1976. The mine plant has retreated surface dumps since 1977. The majority of material is brought in from outside sources. Prior to closure of the underground workings, the mine received state assistance for one year, 1976, totalling R2.18M. The company dewatered the Van-Dyke No 5 shaft in the early 1980's but values proved disappointing.
