Taparko gold mine is located in the Namantenga province of Burkina Faso in West Africa, approximately 200km northeast of Ouaguadougou, the capital city of Burkina Faso. It was the first gold mine being built in the country. Mining is by conventional open pit mining methods. Two areas, Taparko and Bourom (located 49km NW of Tarparko) are exploited. At Taparko, operations is carried out from four pits.
