The Taryn mine is situated 70km south of Ust-Nera in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Russia. It is an open pit operation extracting ore from the Drazhnoye deposit and processing it on site in their 700 kt/a mill. Stage 2 mill expansion is set to be completed in 2020-2021 which will increase capacity to 1,400kt/a. The remote mine provides dormitories and other amenities to its employees based in Yakutia at the Taryn mine. As of 2019, the mine life is anticipated to extend until 2029. The locality endures severe climatic conditions and is located within Russia's Pole of Cold, ranking it among one of the coldest inhabited places on earth.
