The mine is situated 63km by road west-northwest of Nyngan town. Initial ore production from the Murrawombie pit was trucked 18km to the mill, whilst the Tritton underground mine was developed. In 2007 underground developments at Murrawombie and a further satellite deposit named Larsens/North East were approved (sulphide mineralisation form the Girilambone mine), together with a plant expansion to 1.4Mt/a.
