Asset Report
Turquoise Ridge gold mine
Report summary
As of July 1, 2019 Barrick entered into a 61.5:38.5 joint venture with Newmont, concerning their Nevada based assets. As part of the joint venture Turquoise Ridge was combined with the Twin Creek complex, the combined mining operation is comprised of the Turquoise Ridge Underground, Vista Underground, and Turquoise Ridge Surface (the Mega and Vista open pits). All processing facilities are located at Turquoise Ridge Surface on what was formerly Newmont’s Twin Creeks property. To reflect the new joint venture agreement from July 1, 2019 onward the accompanying profile incorporates all production from the aforementioned mines. Prior to July 1, 2019 Twin Creeks production was included within our Newmont Nevada mine profile. In 2020, construction of the third shaft at the Turquoise Ridge Underground continued and the project was on target to be commissioned in late-2022. The project is expected to facilitate an increase in the mining rate to 1.4Mt/a.
