Tursunzade aluminium smelter

Tursunzade is Tajikistan's only aluminium smelter. With a nameplate capacity of 420 ktpa, is the largest smelter by capacity in central Asia. It is owned by the government of Tajikistan and consumes approximately 30% of the country's total electricity output. Initially alumina was sourced from Russia and from Ukraine but since 2007 the smelter sources its alumina from Ghyandia refinery.
