Report summary
Milling at Vaal Reefs South Division commenced in 1972. During 1998 the Vaal Reefs mines were rationalised and reorganised, prior to the formation of AngloGold. Southvaal, a finance company, ceded the mining rights to the lease area in favour of Vaal Reefs in return for royalty payments of 55% of the pre-tax profit from gold and uranium, after allowing for capital expenditure, specific interest payments and certain uranium loan repayments.
