Vedanta Limited is a diversified natural resources company with interests in zinc, lead, silver, Iron ore, Steel, Copper, Aluminium, Power, Oil and Gas. The company restructured in late August 2013. Vedanta Aluminium, Madras Aluminium, Sterlite Industries and Sesa Goa were merged into 58.3% owned Sesa Sterlite, while the new entity retained a 51% stake in Bharat Aluminium (Balco). Sesa Sterlite has operations in aluminium, copper, iron ore and power generation, among other natural resources. In September 2023, Vedanta announced the demerger of its five operating businesses: aluminum, oil and gas, base metals (primarily copper and zinc international), ferrous (steel and iron ore mining), and power. After the demerger, expected to be completed within the current financial year, these businesses will be restructured into six independent companies: Vedanta Aluminium, Vedanta Oil and Gas, Vedanta Power, Vedanta Steel and Ferrous Materials, Vedanta Base Metals, and Vedanta Ltd.
