Zijinshan copper-gold mine is located in Shanghang County, Longyan, Fujian Province. It is a large copper-gold mine, consisting of an open pit mine, an underground mine, three gold beneficiation plants, SxEw facilities, two copper beneficiation plants. Zijinshan gold mine was the largest gold mine in China, with annual output peaking at over 18t Au. The mine commenced commercial production in 1993 via underground mining, before changing to open pit mining in 1997. Ore from Zijinshan is low grade (below 1g/t), which is sent straight for heap leaching, before passing through the processing plant to produce gold loaded carbon with gold content of around 80%. This product is supplied to self-owned refinery also located in Fujian province to be processed into gold bar. The gold reserves at the mine were due to be exhausted in 2019.
