Suriname's first open bid round for Shallow Offshore (SHO) blocks was held in 2021. The blocks are located between the prolific deepwater (DW) play proven by Apache (now APA Corporation) on Block 58, and the historic onshore heavy oil (ON) play of the Tambaredjo fields. The SHO blocks may offer the potential to target new plays outside these proven and emerging fairways. This insight explores our views on the subsurface potential of the SHO blocks and the key risks associated with these unproven plays.
