A slew of natural disasters caused disruptions across the North American crude value chain in July. Wildfires in Alberta threatened Oil Sands output; record tornadoes shuttered refinery units in the upper US Midcon; and Hurricane Beryl showcased the potential sweeping effects of major storms in the Gulf Coast, including GoM production, pipeline flows, refinery operations, and US waterborne exports. In this outlook, we discuss the impacts of each of these events and assess the continued risk for supply chain disruptions going forward.
