After many years of exponential wind development, Texas is now poised to see meteoric growth in utility-scale solar. However, given the sheer magnitude of projects in the ERCOT generation queue, there is considerable speculation as to how much new capacity the market will be able to sustainably bear over the next decade. This insight looks to examine the risks to how much new utility-scale solar can be built by targeting different overbuild scenarios in terms of the location of the distribution of new solar projects.
