Coronavirus impact briefing: week ending 24th April
Report summary
Energy and natural resources sectors are having to deal with the combined forces of the coronavirus pandemic, the oil price crash and an impending global recession. In week three of this weekly briefing, as the pandemic continues we focus on the underreported case counts in some emerging markets, the early signs of release from lockdown mechanisms, and the impact the crashing global economy is having on the emerging markets and their balance of payments. In the sector highlights, we focus on metals and mining, where global stoppages in production are mounting, but demand losses continue; prices are biting deep into the cost curves of many of the critical industrial metals needed to restart the global economy.
