ERCOT regulatory reform challenges: Arbitrary resource selections could hinder grid investments
Report summary
Over the past decade, ERCOT has seen a rapid build out of renewable generation, while at the same time traditional generation sources have struggled to find viability in this changing power market. Recently, a spate of bills out of the Texas legislature as well as market reforms from grid operators have targeted these challenges and have ostensibly looked to add more firm capacity in the market; however, it remains to be seen if these reforms can help the market.
