Market Report
Middle East solar PV market outlook 2020
Report summary
Middle East solar is having a tumultuous 2020, but prices continue to march towards $10/Mwh. Covid-19, the oil price upheaval and the recession have resulted in a steep 76% decline in expected 2020 installations. This decline is mostly due to delayed or cancelled tenders and C&I installation friction, as businesses focus on core expenditures, but investor and off-taker appetite has not waned. Competition in the tenders that have awarded projects this year has continued to be fierce, and leading edge prices are quickly approaching $0.01/kWh.
