Shaping demand with customer solutions: Assessing drivers and business models for scaling customer sited DERs

By 2025, distributed energy resource capacity added since 2016 will be comparable to renewables on the bulk generation side, increasing the need for DER participation in wholesale markets. This report aims to highlight drivers and business models for scaling the deployment of distributed energy resources in the US. It highlights policy and regulatory developments that are setting a foundation for stakeholders. Additionally, the report provides a qualitative assessment of business models that are forming for the deployment of virtual power plants.
