US wholesale DER aggregation: ERCOT 2020 demand response overview
Report summary
This report provides an overview of demand response in the ERCOT’s wholesale market in 2020. There were approximately 2.9 GW of demand response resources providing Responsive Reserve Services and Emergency Response Services, which cleared approximately $190 million in revenue from ERCOT. Load resources eligible for Responsive Reserve Service reached 6.9 GW in 2020, representing a 26% increase year-on-year. The increase in load resources likely stems from new industrial facilities that have been booming in construction in recent years.
