US wind gets boost with one year extension: Solar left out in the cold for holiday tax extenders bill

US lawmakers struck a tax-policy deal late Monday, 16 December 2019, with an agreement that will extend lapsed and expiring tax breaks. The deal provides limited upside for the onshore wind energy sector with a single year extension of the Production Tax Credit (PTC) at a 60% level, while also lending aid to the offshore wind sector by extending the Investment Tax Credit (ITC) at a 12% level.
