Brazil has been producing ethanol for more than 40 years and has the biggest demand of ethanol as fuel in the world. In the last year, the global drop in sugar prices lead to the increase in ethanol production in Brazil, increasing the competitiveness of the fuel in the transportation sector. This insight seeks to answer the following questions: Do we expect a higher increase in ethanol demand in 2019 compared to the increase seen in 2018?Are changes in demand for gasoline expected for 2019? Will Brazilian refinery gasoline imports be affected in 2019 by ethanol demand?
