Recent refinery fires: How will they affect regional product balances?
Report summary
On 29 March 2021, Indonesia’s state-owned oil and gas company Pertamina experienced a fire at its 125 kb/d Balongan refinery situated in West Java. On the same day, Japanese refiner ENEOS had also experienced a fire at its 127.5 kb/d Wakayama refinery which forced the refiner to shut down production. If extended shuts to these refineries continue, it may impact product balances in both Indonesia and Japan in the short-term.
