Asset Report
Algeria tight gas unconventional play
This report is currently unavailable
Report summary
Algeria holds substantial tight gas reserves, the majority of which has yet to be brought onstream and the underexplored basins in the south and west could hold substantial additional volumes. The Ordovician sandstones and quartzites are present across the majority of the southern basins, though accumulations of hydrocarbons are dependent on conventional style traps. Sonatrach will hold the majority ownership stake in all future developments, and the NOC has experience but lacks the financial backing to exploit these resources.
