The Conasauga Shale is an exploratory play located primarily in the northeast portion of the Black Warrior Basin in northern Alabama. The shale is exceptionally thick in certain places and has a very high gas content (300 bcfe/section).  These attractive attributes were the main reason for initial optimism toward the play.
