Conasauga shale gas unconventional play
Report summary
The Conasauga Shale is an exploratory play located primarily in the northeast portion of the Black Warrior Basin in northern Alabama. The shale is exceptionally thick in certain places and has a very high gas content (300 bcfe/section). Initial optimism toward the play waned as hydraulic fracturing proved difficult due to formation swelling. Though activity slowed in 2011, this report provides indicative economic analysis.
