Permian Barnett Woodford (Alpine High) shale gas unconventional play
Report summary
The Barnett-Woodford of West Texas is a play combining the Barnett Shale and the underlying Woodford Shale. Both the Barnett and the Woodford have been very successful stand-alone shale plays in other parts of North America; however, the West Texas play has not been successful thus far due to the depth of the target zones and substanitially discounted Permian gas prices. The upside is that the play has high gas-in-place (GIIP) estimates and a thick productive zone.
