Asset Report
Rajmahal CBM unconventional play
Report summary
The promise of thick coal seams at commercially attractive depths initially attracted companies to CBM in the Rajmahal area. However, tensions with local land owners and marginal results from exploration drilling resulted in Dart Energy and BP moving to relinquish their acreage blocks in 2010. Essar Oil retains the only block but has so far focused its attention on the adjacent Raniganj acreage within the Damodar Valley.
