Despite a hiatus in 2017, bid sales in Newfoundland and Labrador are back in full swing. The 2018 lease sale drew a record breaking Cdn$1.39 billion in work commitments. Five of the 14 blocks were awarded in the Orphan Basin and Jeanne d'Arc. The region welcomes new entrant BHP, which was awarded the highest value bid. The round also featured participation from the East Coast's major players Equinor, Husky and Suncor.
