The Al Uqlah Block (S2) is located in the Marib-Shabwa Basin, central Yemen, to the east of state-owned SAFER E&P's prolific Block 18 producing fields. The contract area originally formed part of the West Shabwa area of central Yemen. The first oil discovery was made in 1992 by Occidental at Kharwah-1.
