Bajo del Choique-La Invernada is a shale block located in Vaca Muerta's North Hub within the Neuquén Basin in Argentina. It sits in Vaca Muerta's light oil window and is regarded as one of the play's highest-quality assets. Originally developed by ExxonMobil, the block was acquired by Pluspetrol in December 2024 as part of the broader purchase of ExxonMobil's Argentine subsidiary, a transaction that significantly transformed Pluspetrol's portfolio. Following the acquisition, Pluspetrol filed for Argentina's Large Investment Incentive Regime (RIGI) with a US$12 billion development plan - one of the largest RIGI upstream submissions to date.
