Report summary
The Band Karkheh oil field is located in Khuzestan province, approximately 20 kilometres northwest of Ahvaz. The field was discovered in 2004 by OMV. It spans 50 kilometres in length and 5 kilometres in width, with an estimated stock tank oil initially in place (STOIIP) of 980 million barrels. The Sarvak and Ilam formations serve as the primary reservoirs for this field. In 2007, OMV confirmed the field's commercial viability after drilling two appraisal wells.
