Report summary
Bawean PSC comprises the offshore North and South Camar oil field complex and the Tuban exploration area. The two offshore areas are non-contiguous, with around 80 km between them. North and South Camar are adjacent to the PERTAMINA-operated West Madura PSC oil fields. The field complex was brought onstream in 1991, and since then has been shut-in and restarted multiple times. The reasons for shut-ins over the years have varied from reservoir and production issues, to low oil prices and operator-specific financial issues. Effective December 2022, Indonesian company PT Bumi Pratiwi Hulu Energi (Prima Energi) obtained a 20-year licence for the Bawean PSC with standard PSC - cost recovery terms. Prima Energi was awarded the block through a direct offer tender mechanism. Production was restarted in February 2024.
