The Bibi Hakimeh field is located 185 kilometres northwest of the city of Shiraz, in southern Iran. It is one of Iran's giant fields, located in the prolific Zagros Basin, with two key oil producing reservoirs, Asmari and Bangestan, and a gas cap. STOIIP estimates range from 15 to 30 billion barrels.Production started in 1964 and peaked at almost 450,000 b/d in 1971, making it the fifth largest oil field in Iran at that time.
