The joint exploitation of the adjacent Cusiana and Cupiagua fields is one of the largest upstream development projects ever undertaken in Colombia. The fields were discovered by BP and are located in the fold and thrust belt of the Llanos foothills on the eastern side of the Andes.Cusiana, Cusiana Norte, and Cupiagua Sur are oil fields with gas caps, while Cupiagua and Cupiagua Norte are retrograde gas/condensate fields.
