The East Coast Marine Area (ECMA) is an important gas producer in Trinidad, supplying gas to both the domestic and LNG markets. It comprises a group of four fields licensed to Shell. The first and largest discovery was the Dolphin field. It lay undeveloped for many years due to the small size of Trinidad's gas market and the dominance of Amoco at the time.
