EOG searches for gold in Dorado play
Report summary
In November, EOG Resources announced a new take on an existing play with the unveiling of its dry gas Dorado project. The Dorado includes deep portions of the Austin Chalk and Upper and Lower Eagle Ford in Webb County, TX, an underdeveloped area for both targets. Based on well results available thus far, our initial analysis shows that the Dorado currently falls short of the ambitious targets it has set for the play. EOG will need to replicate the dramatic cost reduction pattern from other unconventional plays as the company moves from delineation to development.
