The Espinal block contains three oil fields: Purificación, Matachín Norte and Matachín Sur,. The fields were discovered by LASMO and awarded for a six-year exploration term . From 2009 to 2012, a drilling campaign increased production close to initial peak levels. The fields are now mature and with high water cut levels.
