Ethiopia is a landlocked, frontier oil and gas province. The country's basins form part of the East African Rift system, which has proved prolific in Kenya's North Central Gregory Rift Basin, South Sudan's Muglad-Sudd Rift and Melut Rift Basins and Uganda's Albert Rift Basin. The Somali - Ogaden - Mandera Lugh Basin is the largest basin in Ethiopia.Only four gas discoveries totalling 5 tcf have been made in Ethiopia to date.
