Report summary
On 10 October, NOVATEK announced the North Obskoye discovery in the shallow waters of Ob Bay, in northern Russia. The field is located close to the South Tambeiskoye field, the source for the Yamal LNG project, and contains estimated recoverable reserves of 11.3 trillion cubic feet of gas (320 bcm). It is a discovery of global significance in 2018 and could lead to development of the third LNG project of NOVATEK – Arctic LNG-3. In this inform we look at some of the key issues and implications for different partners.
