Global upstream M&A: H1 2023 review and outlook
Report summary
H1 2023 posted the joint-lowest deal count since covid closed the market in H1 2020. Despite this, there were more billion-dollar-plus transactions (17) in this period than at any time since H2 2016. Billion-dollar-plus transactions accounted for more than a quarter of deals where considerations were disclosed – the average over the preceding five years was only 12%.
