The Guayuyaco block contract lies in the Putumayo basin of southern Colombia in the area surrounding the producing fields on the Santana contract area. The block holds the Guayuyaco and Juanambu fields. Juanambu is in the southern portion of the Guayuyaco block, around 10 kilometres southwest of the Guayuyaco field, and crosses into the neighbouring Chaza block. The Putumayo basin is a northern extension of the prolific Oriente basin in Ecuador. Guayuyaco produces from two zones in the Villeta formation (the Lower U sand and the T sand) and the Caballos formation.
