Haynesville howler: Southwestern’s southeast secret
Report summary
The Haynesville has been full of surprises. After its initial boom from 2011 to 2013, new ‘core’ areas later emerged to compete with the original DeSoto and Red River cores in Louisiana. Well volumetrics in the niche area around Natchitoches, Louisiana, are impressive. But the specific geography isn’t without risk. Both CO2 and H2S are present in the production stream. This can result in misleading wellhead economics when using reported volumes. We’ve accounted for the complexities and believe that Southwestern is sitting atop a lot of potential in the Natchitoches region.
