Industry acts to eliminate eastern Australian gas supply shortfall
Report summary
The eastern Australia gas market shortfall was expected to be around 100 mmcfd out to 2021. In response, the federal government introduced the Australian Domestic Gas Security Mechanism (ADGSM) to ensure that the domestic market stays fully supplied. The industry has responded by making additional volumes available for domestic use, which has pushed the shortfall back. Despite this, uncertainty still remains about what the government's next steps will be.
