Israel's is a medium-sized gas producer, producing from large deepwater gas fields in the Mediterranean. Its upstream sector has undergone significant transformation since the discovery of the giant offshore Tamar field in 2009. Tamar was the largest gas discovery in the Eastern Mediterranean at the time and heralded the region's outstanding exploration record in the following years.
