The Joslyn oil sands project is located 65 kilometres to the northwest of Fort McMurray in the Athabasca oil sands region. The project has been operated by Total since its acquisition of all the outstanding shares of Deer Creek Energy in December 2005. Deer Creek Energy originally bought the Joslyn leases from Talisman in 1998.
