Report summary
The Karazhanbas heavy oil field is located in southwest Kazakhstan. It is operated by a JV of state-owned NC KazMunaiGas and CITIC Resources (China). The field has been producing since 1980, with output recently at a plateau of about 40,000 b/d.EOR techniques are critical to the development, alongside extensive drilling of low-productivity wells.
