Kazakhoil Aktobe (KOA), a JV of state-owned NC KazMunaiGas and Sinopec, operates the pre-salt Alibekmola and Kozhasai oil and gas fields in west Kazakhstan. Although both were discovered in the 1980s, development was delayed until the 2000s because of their complex geology and a lack of local infrastructure.Oil output is less than 11,000 b/d, which is half the peak level achieved in the early 2010s.
