KOR Oil Company, a private Kazakh firm, operates the Ashchisai and Bastau oil fields in central Kazakhstan. Commercial production began at Ashchisai in 2001 and peaked at 8,000 b/d in 2008. The small Bastau deposit was discovered in 2020, and an initial trial development phase is ongoing.A short pipeline connects Ashchisai to the nearby Kumkol South oil hub, operated by PetroKazakhstan.
