Report summary
The giant Zakum field is located centrally in Abu Dhabi's offshore area. It lies 80 kilometres northwest of Abu Dhabi city in water depths ranging from 5 to 15 metres. The field is a massive low-relief, east-west anticline that measures 40 kilometres in length and 28 kilometres in width. It is one of the largest offshore oil fields in the world. Lower Zakum is one of two projects covering the field. It has field production capacity of around 425,000 b/d. This will be expanded in future to 450,000 b/d.
